Safe Ride System vs. Safe Ride California Version

by admin on Sep.25, 2009, under Frequently Asked Questions, Shed Some Light

We’ve had a few customers ask us what the difference between our two Safe Ride Modules.

We now provide a California Safe Ride Module because California Law does not allow the flash rate that is legal throughout the rest of the nation.

Our Standard Safe Ride System flashes the LED Array 8 times per second.

Our California version of the Safe Ride System flashes the LED Array at 4 times per second.

If you have any other questions about any of our products feel free to reply to this post or contact us!

Are Headlight Modulators Legal?

by admin on Sep.23, 2009, under Shed Some Light

We have reviewed the laws on headlight modulators and here is what we found.

Headlight Modulator Federal Law

S7.9.4 Motorcycle headlamp modulation system

S7.9.4.1 A headlamp on a motorcycle may be wired to modulate either the upper beam or the lower beam from its maximum intensity to a lesser intensity provided that:

(a) The rate of modulation shall be 240 plus-or-minus 40 cycles per minute.

(b) The headlamp shall be operated at maximum power for 50 to 70 percent of each cycle.

(c) The lowest intensity at any test point shall not be less than 17 percent of the maximum intensity measured at the same point.

(d) The modulator switch shall be wired in the power lead of the beam filament being modulated and not in the ground side of the circuit.

(e) Means shall be provided so that both the lower beam and upper beam remain operable in the event of a modulator failure.

What are the Laws on LED Lighting?

by admin on Sep.12, 2009, under Shed Some Light

Although there are no laws that directly address LED Accent Lighting Here are what we have found… (Please Note: BeSeenAtNight.com is not responsible for the Interpretation and verification for currency, accuracy and completeness of this data lies with the motorcycle operator. This page is guidance only and it remains the responsibility of the motorcycle owner/operator to know and obey the law.)
316.2397  Certain lights prohibited; exceptions.– (CLICK HERE TO SEE STATUTE ONLINE)

(1)  No person shall drive or move or cause to be moved any vehicle or equipment upon any highway within this state with any lamp or device thereon showing or displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front thereof except for certain vehicles hereinafter provided.

(2)  It is expressly prohibited for any vehicle or equipment, except police vehicles, to show or display blue lights. However, vehicles owned, operated, or leased by the Department of Corrections may show or display blue lights when responding to emergencies.

I think the key words are “directly in front”. Blue lights are a no no always while operating.

So… if you like red or blue, but want to “play it safe” get a FUSION 18 Color LED System
